The best way to get around Gothenburg is by the excellent public transportation system: trams, buses, trains and boats run across various through the city. It's best to buy a travel card to use to across public transport. Boats and ferries run across and along the river Göta älv. The Älvsnabbare ferry takes you across the river between Stenpiren and Lindholmspiren. It’s free, so you don’t need a ticket making it a scenic way to see the city. There is a bike rental system, that makes it easy to rent a bike and a fun way to see Gothenburg. Using the Voi app, you can find and rent electric scooters in the city and be sure to ride in the bike lanes. Uber, Bolt and Lime ride share services operate through the city, making it handy to get to where you want to go. Taxis are another option, where you can hail one on the street or grab one from a designated taxi ranks. Taxi prices in Sweden are not regulated, which means that prices can vary greatly between operators. So be sure to check the prices beforehand.
