The best time of the year to go to Hervey Bay is for whale watching season, beginning in August through to October. Fraser Island essentially only has two seasons: summer and winter. Winter on the island is during the months of June through August with temperatures ranging between 13 and 26 degrees. Summer on Hervey Bay is between December through February. The temperatures during this season range from approximately 22 to 30 degrees. As its close to the Tropics of Capricorn it brings humidity that makes it feel hot. The subtropical weather means hot and humid summers and mild winters. The subtropical weather also brings this extreme rainfall.

Fraser Island can be reached via charter flight, ferry from River Heads and Rainbow Beach or through your Fraser Island accommodation provider.
