The best time to visit Dublin is in summer, May to July with temperatures ranging from 17°C to 20°C. The sun doesn’t set till almost 10pm, so you have plenty of time to experience all that Dublin offers. Autumn is also a lovely time to visit (August to October) where temperatures range from 14°C to 17°C, though it can be windy. Winters are cold ranging from 7°C to 10 °C, making it a great time to enjoy the many restaurants and pubs.

The helpful staff at Dublin Airport will greet you when you land and assist you with your travel needs. Once you collect your bags from the arrivals area, there are various transport options available to get you on your way.         

Getting into Dublin from Dublin Airport     

There are several modes of transport options available at Dublin Airport, making travelling into the city centre is easy. Choose from bus, taxi, private chauffeur or car rental. By bus, take the Dublin Express bus or Aircoach for a safe transfer to the city centre within 40 minutes. They operate from both terminals. Taxi is the quickest way to get to the city, with the taxi ranks located at terminal 1. The journey time is approximately 30 minutes. Alternatively, you may wish to request an Uber through the app. If you prefer a private way to travel, you can book a chauffeur to take you to your destination. Car rental is available at Dublin airport, with major providers to choose from depending on your needs. This is a great way to explore more of Ireland.

Getting around Dublin

Getting around Dublin is easy, with plenty of transport options to suit your needs. Jump on the coastal train, the DART, to discover the beautiful towns and villages dotted along the coast or use the extensive public bus network to travel the city and suburbs. There's the Luas tram system to get you out to the suburbs too as well as bicycle hire throughout the city. If you are in Dublin for a few days then the best value across bus and rail options is to buy the Leap Visitor Card. Dublin has many bus routes, making it simple to get around the city centre or you can travel around on the hop-on hop-off city tour buses. DART (Dublin Area Rapid Transit) train system is a fast and frequent way of travelling in the city. The DART hugs the Irish Sea coast for much of its journey, making it a scenic way to travel. Luas is Dublin’s light-rail transit service and the tram is a lovely way to travel and stops at some of Dublins best sights. Taxis are plentiful and can be found at numerous ranks across the city or called for pickups, or you may wish to request an Uber through the app. Dublin is a bike friendly city with many cycle lanes and tours to join, and a bike hire scheme available to hire a bike and explore the city. Car hire is widely available and it's best to pre-book a car.
