Visiting from Melbourne to Cleveland

Cleveland located on the shores of Lake Erie in north-eastern Ohio is a lively city with an industrial look from it's history of steel mills. There is plenty to explore with its now stylish eateries, breweries, galleries and bike trails along the waterways. Be sure to visit the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum of Art, stroll around the many neighbourhoods and wander through the scenic parks. It's a friendly city with plenty of things to do.

When to visit

Summertime is a lovely time to visit Cleveland to enjoy the outdoors, take a trip to Edgewater Beach and experience the music festivals. July to August can be humid and temperatures range around 26°C. Autumn is a popular time to visit (October to November) to go hiking and take part in Halloween festivities. Winters (December to February) can be cool ranging from below freezing to 4°C with snow, so be sure to pack a warm jacket.

Arriving in Cleveland

The helpful staff at Cleveland Airport will be greet you when you land. Once you collect your bags from the arrivals area, there are a number of different transport options available to get you on your way.

Getting into Cleveland from Cleveland Airport 

With a range of transport options available getting into the city centre is easy. Choose from rental cars, taxi, shuttle, limo, ride share and public transport. Rental cars are available at CLE airport with a free shuttle available from the terminal to the rental car facility. Taxis are a comfortable way to travel to take you to your destination with pick-ups located outside baggage claim. There are numerous limo companies and hotels that provide a shuttle service to your destination. Ride-share services are handy way to travel and booked through various apps such as Lyft or Uber. From the airport the train is a convenient option to downtown Cleveland with the station located on the lower level of the main terminal. It takes less than 30 minutes and trains depart CLE airport every 15 minutes. 

Getting around Cleveland

There are plenty of ways to get around Cleveland including car hire, trolley buses, train, walking, taxi, ride share services, bike or shared scooters. If you rent a car, there are parking lots throughout downtown and parking metres. There are free trolley buses on weekdays and weekends to explore the city. There is also a train line from the airport to the city centre. Walking is a good way to see the city as most attractions in Downtown Cleveland can be reached within a 20-minute walk. Taxis and ride share services are available throughout the region and a handy way to save driving. Renting a bike is a fun way to see the city with bikeshare companies and bike lanes to ride in. Rent shared scooters for quick and easy transport around Cleveland or join a tour.
