What is the main airport called?

Kangaroo Island Airport.Opens external site in a new window Kingscote Airport is located 14 kilometres from the main town of Kingscote. Other larger towns of Penneshaw (51km) and American River (29km) are also not far. Car hire and transfers are available at the airport. 

Baggage allowance

You are entitled to checked luggage on every Qantas flight from Kangaroo Island to Brisbane. If additional luggage is required, book this online prior to your departure.

Checking in

Check in online up to 24 hours before your scheduled flight, until 30 minutes prior to departure. Check in desks are also available at Kangaroo Island airport.

What is the main airport called?

Brisbane AirportOpens external site in a new window. Brisbane Airport is located 14km (8.7 miles) from the CBD and is the largest airport in the state of Queensland and services the city of Brisbane as well as much of South East Queensland including the Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast. Brisbane Airport has both a domestic terminal (flights QF400 and above) and an international terminal (flights QF1-QF399).

Arriving in Brisbane

You’ll receive a warm welcome when you land in Brisbane, and from there you can get to your final destination with one of the many airport transport options available. 

Getting into Brisbane CBD from Brisbane Airport

Hire a car prior to your trip, or at the airport terminal if you’d like to explore South East Queensland beyond the city. If you’re looking for public transport to take you to the CBD, catch the Airtrain in only 20 minutes with a public transport Go Card available at the airport as well as convenience stores and train stations throughout the city. Alternatively, book a rideshare service or taxi which can be found in dedicated pickup lanes and ranks just outside the terminal building.

Getting around Brisbane

Brisbane is a proudly sustainable city with an effective public transport network featuring trains, ferries and buses accessible with a Go Card. If you’d like more freedom to explore the wider region, the best option is to hire a car.
