When to visit

The best times to visit Chiang Mai are from November to early February with cool temperatures between 19°C and 29°C. In November you can catch the Loy Krathong festival and enjoy all kinds of outdoor activities including a bike tour of the old town or a cruise along the Ping River. March to May is very hot with temperatures reaching 40°C, where you can cool off in the hotel pool. June to October is monsoon season in this ancient town, though you can still enjoy the temples and Thai cuisine.

Chiang Mai International Airport (CNX). Is an international airport serving Chiang Mai, the capital city of Chiang Mai Province in Thailand. It is a major gateway to Northern Thailand and becoming an increasingly popular tourist destination. Located less than 10 minutes by taxi from the city centre, Chiang Mai International Airport consists of a domestic and international terminal.

The staff at Chiang Mai Airport will greet you when you land and assist you with your travel needs. Then there are various transport options available to get you on your way.         

Getting into Chiang Mai from Chiang Mai international Airport 

Various transport options are available to get to the city centre from the airport. Taxis, airport shuttle, private transfers, minibus and hotel shuttles are available at Chiang Mai Airport to get to the city centre. Airport transfers can be easily booked in advance. The best way is to take a taxi from the terminal building for the short ride to town. Songteaw city buses and tuk-tuk's are available or alternatively you may wish to rent a car. Popular ride share services are Uber and Grab for a convenient way to travel.

Getting around Chiang Mai

Getting around Chiang Mai is easy, as the city has many transport options. Songthaews (local buses) are the most convenient and cheap ways of travelling and can take you to the markets and attractions. Tuk-tuks are a fun way to travel a short distance and can easily be found thoughout town. Taxis are the most comfortable way to get around, though be sure to ask for the meter to be turned on or you can rent a motorbike or hire a bike to explore Chiang Mai. To explore more of the region and surrounding town in Northern Thailand you may wish to rent a car.
