Wrapped around a sheltered bay, Durban, is a gateway to South Africa’s KwaZulu-Natal and Drakensberg regions, has many galleries to explore, along with gold-sand beaches and a wide range of restaurants, cafes and bars. Nature lovers will enjoy the Durban Botanic Gardens, Hawaan Forest and the Umegeni River Bird Park, while sports fans will enjoy a cricket game at Kings Park Stadium. There is something for everyone in the diverse city.

Arriving in Durban

The helpful staff at Durban Airport are on hand and will greet you when you land and assist you with your travel needs. Once you collect your bags from the arrivals area, there are various transport options available to get you on your way. 

Getting into Durban from Durban Airport 

With a range of transport options available at the airport, makes it easy to get to the city centre, from King Shaka Airport shuttle services to car hire. If you want a private vehicle then a taxi is the best option. Car hire is available outside the terminal building and it’s best to pre-arrange your vehicle. King Shaka Airport shuttle bus, is a convenient and cheap public transport option with shuttles running constantly to stops in and around Durban. There is a bus service from the airport to popular spots in Durban and major hotels. It’s easy and safe to book an Uber, take a taxi or minibus.

Getting around Durban

The best way to get around Durban is to hire a car, to explore the city and the KwaZulu-Natal province at your own pace. Uber is a popular and safe way to get you where you want to go. Other options include the city bus service and Metrorail local trains, although not highly recommended for tourists. In the city, a tuk-tuk is a fun and colourful way to get around, metered taxis, tours, a sightseeing bus or hire a bike to cruise along the beachside.

Qantas flights QF400 and above operate from this terminal.

Baggage allowance

Passengers on Qantas flights from Canberra are allocated a baggage allowance. If you require extra luggage for your trip, you can purchase an additional baggage allowance online prior to departure.
