Best time to visit Cairns

Qantas flights QF400 and above operate from this terminal.

Baggage allowance

Passengers on Qantas flights from Canberra to Cairns are entitled checked baggage. If you need extra luggage, you can purchase an additional baggage allowance online before departure.

Checking in

Passengers travelling from Canberra to Cairns can check-in online up to 24 hours before departure. Alternatively, you can check in at the airport by visiting a kiosk.

There are two terminals: Terminal 1 - international airport (Qantas flights QF1-QF399) and Terminal 2 - domestic airport (Qantas flights QF400 and above). 

Arriving in Cairns

When your flight from Canberra to Cairns touches down, you’ll be greeted by the friendly staff at Cairns Airport. From there, it’s easy to make your way to different parts of the city.

Getting into Cairns from Cairns Airport

Airport Connect is a public transport link that gets you to the Cairns city centre or the northern Beaches. Taxis, hire cars, transfers or the Sun Palm Bus are available to book at the airport.

Getting around Cairns

Cairns CBD is best done on foot. To get to surrounding areas it's best to hire a car. Alternatively, the local public transport, Sunbus, is a reliable service or you may wish to join one of the many tours.
