When to visit

The best time to visit Philadelphia is March through to May. During springtime the weather is beautiful, parks are in full bloom and it's perfect to walk around the city or visit the Philly craft beer festival. Summer is the busiest time in terms of visitors, though it can get very hot. In the summer months, the Philadelphia Pride Parade is on as well as live music events for the 4th of July festival. Winter in Phily gets really cold, though you can join in the holiday festivals from Thanksgiving to New Year’s Day.

Philadelphia Int. Airport (PHL),Opens external site in a new window also known as PHL, is an important airport in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States. The airport is located 16 km southwest from downtown Philadelphia, next to Delaware River.  PHL Airport has seven terminal buildings.

The staff at Philadelphia Airport will greet you when you land and assist you with your needs. Once you collect your bags from the arrivals area, there are various transport options available to get you on your way.

Getting into Philadelphia from Philadelphia Airport

Getting into Philadelphia from the airport is easy, with many transport options available to suit your needs. Public transport options include the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority, SEPTA, provides a train service between Center City and the Airport on the Airport Regional Rail Line. Trains run every 30 minutes. The Airport is also served by three SEPTA bus routes located outside of baggage claim. A number of car rental facilities are conveniently located at Philadelphia International Airport.  Rental agencies provide frequent free shuttles between all bag claims and their rental car facility.  All rental car shuttles pick-up from  Zone 2 on Arrivals Road. If you plan to use Uber, Lyft or another app-based ride service after landing at PHL, proceed through baggage claim and follow the ground transportation signs for Ride App/Zone 7. Taxicabs are readily available and provide service to the Philadelphia metro area and surrounding counties.

Getting around Philadelphia

There are many ways to get around Philadelphia to see the city by foot, bike, bus and more. When visiting Philly, it is a must to walk through the Reading Terminal Market or to see the Liberty Bell. Peddler’s Village and Longwood Gardens are other interesting sites too. The city's layout is simple to master and the neighbourhood streets are filled with fun and diverse shops, restaurants, museums, parks and people, so it great to walk around. Philadelphia has become one of the most bike-friendly big cities in the country with dedicated bike lanes on city streets. The most convenient way to see some of the city’s top attractions is aboard the Philadelphia PHLASH Downtown Loop hop and hop off bus. Public transport options include the SEPTA, buses and the trolley lines. You can also hail a taxi, rent a car or take an Uber of Lyft for a convenient way to navigate Philadelphia.
