Mumbai travel information

Mumbai, formerly known as Bombay, lies on the Konkan coast on the west coast of India and has a lovely natural harbour. The city is full of energy, packed with hard workers, exotic birds, artists and lots of people. It is a diverse city, with a buzzing film industry, slums to some of the most expensive homes and at heart of the city contains some of the most ornate colonial-era architecture. Visit to explore the unique bazzars, temples, top Indian restaurants and nightlife. Be sure to visit the three UNESCO World Heritage Sites: the Elephanta Caves, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, and the city's distinctive ensemble of Victorian and Art Deco buildings, plus the famous Taj Mahal Palace.

When to visit

Best time to visit Mumbai

Mumbai sees fairly dramatic weather conditions, with a tropical wet and dry climate. The temperature doesn’t fluctuate as much throughout the year but it experiences dry periods followed by months of intensely heavy rain. The best time to visit Mumbai is between October and February. There is less rain and temperatures are cooler, making it the perfect time to see the sights. The average temperatures is around 30°C. Between June and September is monsoon season, that can cause heavy flooding.
