Honiara Airport is just 12km east of the vibrant capital city and making your way around the main island is easy. From the airport it’s easy to hire a car to explore the island as the roads are easy to navigate and you can sightsee as you go. Local taxis and minibuses are located directly outside the airport to take you where you need to go. Check ahead if your hotel offers a private transfer from the airport to your accommodation, and if so, book ahead and be greeted with your name on the sign and a smile.

The roads are easy to navigate and it's a great way to sightsee. You can collect your hire car from the airport and drive on the left-hand side of the road. Taxis are a reliable and a convenient method of transport, they may not have a meter, so it’s best to agree on a fare before you set off.
