Best time to visit the Gold Coast

Having a sub-tropical climate and approximately 300 days of sunshine every year, the best time to visit the Gold Coast is any time. Summer is hot and humid, spring is tropical and breezy, autumn is pleasant with cooler nights, and winter is generally dry and sunny.

What is the main airport called?

Adelaide Airport. Located 7km (3.7 miles) from the city on Andy Thomas Circuit, Adelaide Airport (ADL)Opens external site is Australia's fifth busiest airport. Both domestic (QF400 and above) and international (QF1-QF399) services operate from the same terminal.

Baggage allowance

All Qantas passengers flying from Adelaide to the Gold Coast are allocated checked baggage. If you need extra luggage, you can purchase an additional baggage allowance online before departure.

What is the main airport called?

Gold Coast Airport. Located 21km (13 miles) from Surfers Paradise and 3km (1.8 miles) from Coolangatta, Gold Coast Airport (OOL)Opens external site in a new window is the gateway to southern Queensland. Qantas Flights QF400 and above operate from Terminal 1. 

Arriving on the Gold Coast

Once you touch down on the Gold Coast, you’ll be welcomed by the airport staff. Then there are multiple transport options available to get you on your way. 

Getting into the Gold Coast from Gold Coast Airport

There are several transport options connecting the airport to the Gold Coast’s most popular tourist locations, including the SkyBus Gold Coast Airport Shuttle and transfers with private operators. There are also car rental desks opposite the arrivals area, a taxi rank is at the southern end of the terminal, and a rideshare pick-up point at the northern end of the terminal. 

Getting around the Gold Coast

The Gold Coast is serviced by the TransLink bus network and a 13-kilometre integrated tram system, as well as trains, taxis, ferries, and self-drive options.
