What is the Qantas Distribution Platform

Developed using International Air Transport Association (IATA) New Distribution Capability (NDC) standards, we've built the Qantas Disitrbution Platform as a technology platform to modernise the retailing experience for our customers via their preferred indirect booking system.

Industry supported to deliver modern retailing for your business

Used by indirect booking systems and airlines globally, NDC enables Qantas to enhance the way we communicate and distribute airline content through to indirect booking systems, which includes the Travel Management Company (TMC) and/or Online Booking Tool (OBT) your business may be using today.

When your preferred TMC and/or OBT is accessing Qantas Distribution Platform content either directly or via one of our Approved Technology Partners, we’re able to make purchase of travel with Qantas easier, simpler and more dynamic.

Your journey with the Qantas Distribution Platform is unique and your preferred Travel Management Company and/or Online Booking Tool’s access to Qantas Distribution Platform content and offers may still be under development. If this is the case, we do encourage you to speak with them about their plans and/or current readiness.

How the Qantas Distribution Platform works

Developed using IATA’s NDCOpens external site in a new window standards, the Qantas Distribution Platform has been purpose-built to communicate and distribute Qantas NDC content through to indirect booking systems.

As shown above, the Qantas Distribution Platform functions as an offer and order management system and houses a sophisticated pricing and merchandising engine, using schedule, fare and availability information, as well as customer data.

This system enables us to create and distribute tailored offers and richer content for your business, once your Travel Management Company and/or Online Booking Tool is connected to the Qantas Distribution Platform.

Your preferred Travel Management Company and/or Online Booking Tool can receive access to Qantas Distribution Platform via one of our Approved Technology Partners or can connect directly. You will need to speak to your Travel Management Company and/or Online Booking Tool to understand their plans and/or readiness in accessing Qantas Distribution Platform content and offers.

From seamless shopping and streamlined servicing to tailored and dynamic offers, the Qantas Distribution Platform provides a range of benefits and efficiencies when booking Qantas via your preferred TMC and/or OBT.

Access new types of offers for your business

Ability to unlock a range of price, loyalty and ancillary-based offers, including bonus Qantas Points and Status Credits offers, special price offers for Qantas Frequent Flyers, discounted ancillary offers on seats and bags, the option to add Fly Carbon Neutral and more. Your business will also gain access to a lower price point* every time you shop via the Qantas Distribution Platform.

Improved features to support and assist with booking requirements

This may include more information on fare rules, as well as marketing information indicating when an ‘offer’ is available for your corporate traveller, when they shop using their Qantas Frequent Flyer number or Qantas Business Rewards number or Qantas Corporate Identifier.

Richer information from point of sale to point of purchase

This may include information on Frequent Flyer points earned, additional baggage allowances and visual information on what the traveller can expect at the airport and whilst on-board.

Enhanced servicing functionalities

Providing travel arrangers with a more efficient end to end servicing experience, enabling automated post-booking functionalities, to save you and your corporate travellers even more time.

The Qantas Distribution Platform Journey

For your business to access Qantas Distribution Platform content and offers, your preferred Travel Management Company and/or Online Booking Tool should have completed the below stages.

They have nominated^ an Approved Technology Partner connected to the Qantas Distribution Platform.

They have connected to the same Approved Technology Partner.

Your preferred Online Booking Tool must be integrated with your preferred Travel Management Company for reporting of passenger data.

They are capable of displaying and delivering Qantas NDC content and offers for your business.

The stages shown above are indicative of the collaboration, time and technical integration required to ensure your business can access Qantas Distribution Platform content and offers. Your preferred Travel Management Company and/or Online Booking Tool may be at different stages of the Qantas Distribution Platform journey, and we encourage you to speak with them to understand their current readiness in accessing Qantas Distribution Platform content and offers.
