Throughout these uncertain times we have and are continuing to implement initiatives to help safeguard your benefits and manage any travel you had planned that has been impacted. And as Australian domestic and trans-Tasman restrictions begin to ease we are excited to look ahead and start helping you prepare and plan for when your travel resumes with updates on further flexibility on fares, whether you’re booking with cash or points, and safety measures so you can book your travel with confidence.
No matter when you decide to get back in the air, for work or leisure, we'll be here, to fly you there.
Whether you’re starting to plan your travel for work or a long overdue holiday, we know our customers are looking forward to booking their next flight. To ensure you can book with confidence, we're introducing further flight flexibility.
When you use Qantas Points to book a Classic Flight Reward seat on any Qantas or Jetstar flight you’ll be able to change the date or cancel your booking free of charge until 31 January 2021.
So whether you’re looking to travel soon or down the track, Classic Flight Reward seats across Australia are available to be booked today.
Book any Australian domestic flight between 21 May 2020 and 31 January 2021, for travel between 12 June 2020 and 31 January 2021, and we'll waive the change fee one time if you decide to change the date of your travel. When you’re ready to rebook, you’ll only need to cover any fare increase for your new flights.
For existing bookings made through Qantas directly, we’ve also introduced further flexibility for booking changes and refunds on:
Australian Domestic flight bookings
International flight bookings
Flight credits and multi-use functionality
Classic flight reward bookings
Cancellation and change fees
The safety and wellbeing of our customers and people is, and always has been our highest priority. Travel is an important part of life, and we know there’s understandable concern about Coronavirus.
Our new Fly Well program brings together a range of wellbeing measures at airports and on our aircraft, to help our customers feel comfortable as we prepare for the gradual easing of domestic travel restrictions.
Across Qantas and Jetstar we’ll introduce hand sanitising stations at gates; wipes and face masks onboard; sequenced boarding and disembarkation; and more. Our Fly Well program has been developed based on medical advice and feedback from customers.
Did you know that the air conditioning systems on all Qantas and Jetstar aircraft are already filtered with hospital-grade HEPA filters which remove 99.99% of all air particles including viruses?
Air inside the cabin is filtered on average every five minutes during flight
Among the many impacts, we know that your business and any business travel plans have been affected. We appreciate the need for flexibility during this time and the importance of preserving the travel benefits that you’ve earned through your loyalty to us.
In support of our valued Qantas Business Rewards members, we’ve begun automatically extending your current Membership Level and associated benefits for 12 months.
In March 2020, we announced a 6 month extension of paid Qantas Club memberships and to most Complimentary Lounge Invitations, for members active as at 23 March 2020.
We're now extending paid Qantas Club memberships for a further 6 months, for members active as at 23 September 2020.
We have a proud history of supporting Australians in times of need and we’ve been able to repatriate thousands of them from all over the world since the Coronavirus outbreak.
We’ve now operated nine repatriation flights from Wuhan, Tokyo, Lima, Buenos Aires, Johannesburg and New Delhi, with even more planned over the next few weeks.
It’s been an enormous team effort from right across our business, especially because we’re flying to ports we don’t normally. We are proud to be involved in bringing our fellow Aussies home safely.
In partnership with Austrade, Qantas Freight is operating a total of 15 freight-only services per week on our A330 passenger aircraft to Hong Kong, Tokyo, Singapore, Shanghai and Auckland (in addition to our 12 freighter aircraft that continue to operate at full capacity).
These flights support Australian exporters of premium produce to get their products to key overseas markets, with the return flights carrying vital Personal Protective Equipment and medical supplies for Australian health care providers.
^ Fees will be automatically waived on changes or cancellations to any Classic Flight Reward booking, until 31 October 2020. To be eligible for the fee waiver, all flights in your booking must be Classic Flight Rewards. If you combine Classic Flight Rewards with non-Classic Flight Reward fares ("Commercial Fares"), the fee waiver will not apply.
Reward Assistance and Service Fees may apply. For a list of all Classic Flight Reward service fees, see the Fee Schedule in the program Terms and Conditions.
