Eligible Qantas Business Rewards members can now redeem points directly from their Business Rewards account on Classic Flight Rewards, Points Plus Pay - Flights, additional baggage allowance and seat selection, saving your business money on travel costs.
Users who previously had permission to ‘transfer points’ out of the Business Rewards account to any nominated Frequent Flyer account will now also have access to this new functionality, and will be able to view, select and book flights, seats and bags using the business’ points when logged in and booking flights from their Qantas Business Rewards account.
If you have permissions to use your business’ points, you will now be able to see and book Classic Flight Rewards or use a combination of points and cash on any flight booking using Points Plus Pay when you’re logged in and booking flights from your Qantas Business Rewards account.
Classic Flight Rewards are available on eligible flights with Qantas and Jetstar. Classic Flight Rewards provide Qantas Business Rewards members with a great way to fly for a fixed points amount excluding taxes, fees and carrier charges.
Use Qantas Points to book any available seat on any Qantas flight with a QF flight number, Jetstar flight with a JQ flight number or selected partner airlines when travelling on a Qantas fare and booking from your Business Rewards account.
Classic Flight Rewards start from as little as 8,000 points on Qantas flights excluding taxes, fees and carrier charges.
You need a minimum of 5,000 points for your Qantas booking or 3,500 points for Jetstar. After selecting your preferred fares, you can use the Points Plus Pay slider on the 'Options' page to change the mix of cash and points. Points are variable and will be quoted at the time of booking and includes taxes, fees and carrier charges.
It's important to note that to redeem points directly from your business account, you’ll need to be logged into your dashboard on the Qantas Business Rewards website
If you have permissions to use points, you’ll notice the Flight Search panel will now show two new buttons allowing you to select if you’d like to use points or cash for your flight booking:
By selecting ‘Use Cash’ or ‘Use Points’ this will allow you to view the flight details appropriate to your booking, however you can also change this view later in your flight search.
Select 'Use cash' to view the cost of flights in cash, along with any available Classic Flight Rewards. Select 'Use points' to view the cost of flights in points (using Points Plus Pay), along with any available Classic Flight Rewards.
Once you’ve landed on the flight options page, you’ll notice a few changes:
View your business points balance before selecting - in the top right hand corner, we’ll display your current points balance for your business so you know how many points you have to redeem.
Select your preferred flights, review your choice and click ‘Continue’
If you have selected ‘Use Cash’ – you’ll now be able to see and combine Classic Flight Rewards and standard fares when selecting flights. Your Business Rewards Member Deal discount will be visible on eligible fares in this view – just look out for the blue star.
If you have selected ‘Use Points’ - you will see the total cost of the flight options in points, if you are planning to use a combination of cash and points this can be adjusted later in the flight booking process. f you are using points to pay in full or are booking a Classic Flight Reward and have selected a stored traveller and their profile is up to date, you can select ‘Express Checkout’ to finish your booking. It's important to note that if you select ‘Points Plus Pay’ flights, you’ll be charged the full amount of points for that flight.
If you’d like to reduce the amount of points used and pay a portion in cash, make sure you hit ‘Continue’
You can choose to pay for the whole flight (including taxes, which also applies to Classic Flight Reward bookings).
When making your booking, you can purchase an additional baggage allowance for lower rates than at the airport when making your booking. You can purchase additional baggage using cash or your business’s Qantas Points^.
You can also select your seat on Qantas operated flights+ after making a booking. Standard seat selection is complimentary if you're:
Seat selection is available for a charge if you're travelling in international Economy on sale fares and can also be purchased using cash or points from within your businesses account.
If you’ve added stored travellers to your booking, these will be automatically appended to the booking ready for you to review. If you have permission to also view and manage stored company cards, you’ll be able to also use these cards to pay for any cash portion of the booking.
Once you’ve made your booking, users with permissions will be able to see it within the business’ Manage Bookings page in your account. With all bookings (made using points or cash), you can click the ‘Manage’ button to do things like adding seats, extra baggage or book a hotel or car.
Who can change a Classic Flight Reward Booking?
Only users who have permissions to ‘Use Points for your business’ and ‘Manage Company Bookings’ enabled will be able to change flights that were booked as a Classic Flight Reward.
Users who have permissions to use points and manage company bookings can also change flights made by other travel arrangers in your business. However, users who don’t have permissions will see a message when trying to manage the booking and the ‘Change’ icon will be greyed out.
Who can change a Points Plus Pay booking?
Account users with the permission to 'Manage company bookings' will be able to change Points Plus Pay - Flights bookings online, but any change fees or fare difference will be collected in cash only.
TIP: Other users in your business who have the permissions to ‘Use Points’ and ‘Manage Company Bookings’ can also change and modify Classic Flight Reward bookings on your behalf. They just need to select your flight on the ‘Manage Company Bookings’ page in the business’ account and click ‘Manage’ on your flight.
Step 1: Find your upcoming booking in the ‘Manage Company Bookings’ list, and click ‘Manage’
Step 2: Scroll down to the Flight Details area. If you have permission, you should see the ‘Change’ button.
Step 3: Select the flights you wish to change using the check-box. You can change both segments, or just one. A calendar will appear asking you to select your new date. Click ‘continue’
Step 4: Choose your new flight. Once selected, reconfirm your options and click ‘Continue’.
Note - you can upgrade your flight to a different class, or if your class of travel is not available you can also downgrade to a lower cabin class. Points will be refunded back to you (minus any change fees)
Step 5: Checkout, reconfirm your flight details and check for any differences in points or taxes. To proceed, acknowledge the T&C’s and confirm your trip.
Step 6: Once its been completed, you’ll be redirected to the Manage Your Booking page and a see a confirmation banner
A business must be a Qantas Business Rewards member to earn and use Qantas Points for the business. A one-off joining fee of $89.50 may apply, is inclusive of any applicable GST and may be varied by Qantas from time to time, without notice, in its absolute discretion. A Member's ABN and traveller's Qantas Frequent Flyer membership number must be quoted at the time of booking to earn Qantas Points for both the business and the traveller.
