Travel to the Philippines

Travelling has changed, and you may need to do a little more planning and preparation before take-off. Ensure you check and comply with all airline and government travel requirements before arriving at the airport.

All travellers are required to complete the One Health Pass registration formOpens external site in a new window a maximum of 48 hours before departure, and the health declaration checklist must be completed 24 hours before your flight departure time.  There is no cost involved with this pass. You'll receive a bar code once the COVID-19 test (RT-PCR or antigen) and vaccination certificate record have been accepted which you'll be required to show upon check-in. If you're fully-vaccinated with at least one booster shot you may not be required to have a COVID-19 pre-departure test.

Qantas vaccination requirements

All passengers on international flights operated by Qantas are required to be fully vaccinated (some exceptions for children and medical exemptions apply). In accordance with Australian Government guidelines, a traveller is not fully vaccinated unless at least 7 full calendar days have elapsed since the last dose of vaccine in a course of immunisation. Learn more about our vaccination requirements.

Customers with a COVID-19 vaccination medical exemption must submit your documentation to Qantas before your flight. We're not able to process exemptions at the airport on your day of departure. See more on applying for clearance to travel.

This requirement relates to flights operated by Qantas on a Qantas aircraft, including those booked via another airline or third-party travel arranger. If you're travelling on a Qantas codeshare flight which is operated by another airline on their aircraft, you'll need to contact them directly to understand and meet their requirements.

You should always check the vaccination requirements for the country you're travelling to, and comply with the most stringent requirements that apply to your trip.

You'll be required to present proof of vaccination at the airport. 

Travel requirements

Before booking and before departure, ensure you check the latest PhilippineOpens external site in a new window and AustralianOpens external site government conditions for travel, including any applicable Australian State Government restrictions and requirements, which may include mandatory travel and health declarations, vaccinations, use of face masks, and immigration and entry requirements (which may include renewing your passport, or applying for a visa), or you could be denied entry. Fully vaccinated Australians and citizens of a non-visa country or territoryOpens external site are allowed to enter the Philippines, provided you comply with the applicable visa and immigration requirements (including passport validity of at least 6 months from your arrival, and having an onward/return ticket for no later than 30 days from your arrival in the Philippines).

Fully vaccinated passengers

Before departure you'll need to:

  • Check if you're considered fully vaccinated according to the Philippine Government guidelinesOpens external site in a new window, which include completing a full course of an approved vaccine more than 14 days before departure. Exceptions apply for children under 12 years old travelling with fully-vaccinated parents or guardians.
  • Have valid proof of your vaccination status as recognised by the Philippines Government. Your certificate must match the name per your passport and be one of:
    • World Health Organization International Certificates of Vaccination and Prophylaxis; or
    • VaxCertPH; or
    • National/state digital certificate of the foreign government which has accepted VaxCertPH under a reciprocal arrangement unless otherwise permitted by the IATF. This includes Australian-issued International COVID-19 Vaccination Certificates.
  • You may be excluded from the COVID-19 pre-departure test requirement if:
    • You're 18 years and above who are fully-vaccinated and have had at least one booster shot
    • You're between 12-17 years of age and fully-vaccinated
    • Children below 12 years of age who are travelling with their parent or guardian who is fully vaccinated and has had at least one booster shot. 
  • If you're required to provide proof of a negative COVID-19 pre-departure test. This can be either an RT-PCR test taken within the 48 hours prior to departure, or a remotely supervised or professionally administered Rapid Antigen Test taken within 24 hours prior to departure (including healthcare facility, laboratory, clinic, pharmacy, or another similar establishment).
  • All travellers are required to complete the mandatory One Health Pass registrationOpens external site in a new window (free of charge) which includes uploading the required documentation, within 48 hours of arriving in the Philippines. The health declaration checklist must be completed 24 hours before your flight departure time. You'll receive a bar code once the COVID-19 test (RT-PCR or antigen) and vaccination certificate record have been accepted. You'll need to show this at check-in.
  • Travel Insurance is recommended but not mandatory.

 

If you're travelling on a Qantas aircraft and cannot be vaccinated for approved medical reasons, you'll also be required to submit your exemption documents to us prior to departure, and show evidence of a negative pre-departure COVID-19 test result at the airport.

All other passengers

Unvaccinated or partially vaccinated individuals must have an approved visa as well as a travel exemption. You may be refused entry without these. You may be required to quarantine and show proof of pre-booked accommodation at an accredited facility. If you receive a negative COVID-19 test on the fifth day of arriving you may be able to undergo home quarantine until the 14th day of your arrival.

Applying for clearance to travel

If you're unable to be vaccinated due to medical reasons or you return a positive pre-departure COVID-19 test result, you may still be able to travel with us in some circumstances:

  • Vaccination exemptions: You can request a vaccination exemption due to a medical condition that prevents you from being vaccinated with a COVID-19 vaccine. You'll also be required to show proof of a negative pre-departure COVID-19 test when you check-in.
  • Prior positive medical clearance: If you've previously had a COVID-19 infection, you may be able to apply for medical clearance based on a past positive infection, provided you're no longer infectious and don’t have any symptoms. Check the government requirements to see if they permit exceptions for past positive infections, for any countries you're travelling to or transiting through, before submitting your request to us.
