Introducing the Qantas Distribution Platform

The Qantas Distribution Platform (QDP) is a new technology platform to enhance the airline retailing, booking and servicing capabilities and deliver a more personalised experience for your customers.


The QDP uses IATA’s New Distribution Capability (NDC) standard and Application Programming Interface (API) technology to:

  • Communicate richer information about the Qantas experience at the point of sale
  • Build and distribute new merchandising offers that leverage rich data
  • Create a more personalised booking and servicing experience

The QDP improves the functionality of indirect agent channels by more closely aligning them with the capabilities currently available via, making it easier for you to sell Qantas products and providing more seamless customer service, including:

Recognising Frequent Flyer members at the point of sale, enabling you to identify their unique preferences and provide a personalised relevant offer.

Enhanced ancillary selling

New functionality making it easier for agents to sell Qantas ancillary options including extra bags and seat selection.

Reduced risk of errors

Enhanced product and fare information at point of sale and throughout the servicing process, reduces the likelihood of errors and Agency Debit Memos (ADMs). 

Seamless servicing

Rich information including images of products and services equips you with everything you need to provide the right recommendation and seamless servicing.

1. What is New Distribution Capability (NDC)?

New Distribution Capability (NDC) is an industry initiative supported by the International Air Transport Association (IATA). NDC is a new ‘standard’ or common way of communicating between airlines and Trade Partners including GDSs and travel agents. It provides enhanced flexibility to meet the retailing, booking and servicing needs of travel agents and their customers. 2. Why has Qantas developed the Qantas Distribution Platform (QDP)?

The QDP has been developed to meet the evolving preferences of travellers and make it easier for our agency partners to sell Qantas and service our mutual customers. The QDP will modernise the way Qantas delivers content and the way you offer Qantas products to customers.

3. If my GDS partner has not connected to the QDP yet will I still get access to Qantas fares and availability as I do today?

Yes, Qantas will continue to distribute our fares and availability as we do today via the GDS.

4. Will group fares also be available in the QDP?
