Partnership Overview

Qantas offers a wide range of options to China and beyond with our joint venture and codeshare partner China Eastern (MU).

Together we offer 50 flights per week from Australia to China, and provide one-stop access via Shanghai to over 120 cities across China.

Qantas and China Eastern frequent flyers receive reciprocal benefits when flying on either airline including lounge access, Frequent Flyer points and other status privileges such as priority check-in.

Our Network

Qantas customers have the option to travel on:

   • Multiple direct daily services between Sydney, Melbourne and Shanghai
   • Direct daily services between Sydney and Beijing
   • Sydney–Nanjing–Beijing 3 x weekly
   • Sydney–Hangzhou–Beijing 3 x weekly
   • Brisbane–Shanghai 4 x weekly
   • Sydney–Kunming 3 x weekly
   • Sydney–Wuhan 3 x weekly

Beyond Shanghai, customers are offered great connections to 18 China Eastern codeshare destinations within China. Destinations include Beijing, Chengdu, Dalian, Fuzhou, Guangzhou, Harbin, Kunming, Nanjing, Qingdao, Shenyang, and Xian.

Frequent Flyer Benefits

Our partnership with China Eastern means more flights and more choice for every Qantas Frequent Flyer. Members can earn and redeem Qantas Points and earn Status Credits on eligible Qantas flights within and between Australia and China.

Qantas Frequent Flyers can also earn Status Credits on many China Eastern flights, as long as your customer is booked on the Qantas (QF) flight number. Eligible members can use China Eastern Lounges across China.

Qantas Frequent Flyers can also use Qantas Points to book available seats on China Eastern flights across the globe using Points Plus Pay - Flights or Classic Flight Rewards.

Our Fleet

Enjoy a state-of-the-art cabin environment and an exceptional customer experience on both Qantas and China Eastern’s modern fleet of Airbus A330 aircraft and China Eastern’s seasonal Boeing B777 aircraft on some routes.

Our refitted A330s provide lie-flat seats in Business, brand new Economy seats and new inflight entertainment.

Both airlines A330 aircraft offer two cabin layout with complimentary food and wine, onboard bilingual inflight entertainment, magazines and newspapers.

Lounges

Qantas Frequent Flyers as well as travellers in premium cabins have access to Qantas and China Eastern Lounges.

Eligible customers can work, relax and dine in our world class lounges when departing Sydney, Brisbane or Melbourne. Prior returning to Australia, eligible customers can relax in the China Eastern No 36 VIP Lounge in Shanghai. The lounge is split into two levels and offers a seasonal Chinese and Western Buffet as well as showers, massage chairs and private working spaces.

Shanghai and Airport Experience

Immerse yourself in Shanghai – China’s biggest city and global financial hub. Witness Pudong district’s futuristic neon skyline that reaches for the clouds. This prosperous city oozes an atmosphere of vitality and modernity.

China Eastern’s main hub is Shanghai Pudong International Airport and opens up 129 cities across China. Both Qantas and China Eastern operate from Terminal 1 where eligible customers have access to China Eastern’s Flagship VIP Lounge.
