Status Extension and Status Credit Rollover

Latest News|Published 11 August 2021

Since March 2020, Qantas has offered members a range of support mechanisms to retain their tier including status extensions, Status Credit boosts and the ability to earn them on the ground.

With ongoing travel restrictions, we want to make sure members can continue to enjoy their Qantas Frequent Flyer status benefits and privileges.

To help Qantas Frequent Flyers maintain their status, all Australian and New Zealand based members need to do is simply book and pay for an eligible flight and we will extend their status for a further 12 months. The booking must be made before the members status end date but can be for travel any time before 30 June 2022 (see below for applicable booking dates relevant to different status end dates).

Plus, we’re giving eligible members a headstart on reaching their future status goals with the ability to rollover eligible Status Credits into their next membership year.

Status Extension

Qantas will extend the status for Qantas Frequent Flyer members who reside in Australia or New Zealand who:

  • hold Platinum One, Platinum, Gold or Silver status and have not been able to earn the required Status Credits to retain their status;
  • have an upcoming status end date before, and including, 30 June 2022; and
  • have made a new booking to travel on at least one eligible flight for travel any time before 30 June 2022. For members with a status end date before 31 December 2021 the booking creation date must be between 23 November 2020 and before the member’s current status end date. For members with a status date between 31 January – 30 June 2022 the booking creation must be between 11 August 2021 and before the member’s status end date.

Members who have received complimentary Gold status, or complimentary Platinum from a Platinum One member and those on Status Hold are eligible to have their status extended if they meet the above criteria.

Status Credit Rollover

Qantas will rollover eligible Status Credits earned in current Membership Years ending before, and including, 30 June 2022, up to a cap of at least 40% of the Status Credits required to retain your customer’s status.

The maximum number of Status Credits that will be rolled over are as follows:

  Platinum One Platinum Gold Silver
Status Credits 1,800 500 250 100
