Ten days of divine wine

Boasting outstanding natural beauty and some of the finest vineyards in Australia, New South Wales has all the ingredients for the perfect wine themed trip. We've compiled an itinerary that will take you on a journey through several of the most well known wine regions of New South Wales.

What better place to get the show on the road than the scenic North Coast region. Fly to the lively seaside town of Port Macquarie to visit some of the vineyards that are nestled amidst the region's picturesque river valleys and sandy beaches. The subtropical climate provides the ideal conditions for growing white varieties such as chardonnay and semillon and reds including merlot.

Scenic national parks, surf beaches and rustic villages will escort you during the drive along the Legendary Pacific Coast route to our next port of call, the Hunter.

The Hunter Valley, as one of the most historic and renowned wine-growing regions in Australia, is famous for producing wines through a variety of methods. Vineyards in this area are great examples of the fusion of traditional and up-and-coming wineries in the Hunter Valley. Whatever time of year you visit, immerse yourself in the peaceful surroundings while enjoying regional favourites, shiraz and chardonnay.

On the drive to the next region, Country NSW, make sure to stop off at Wollemi National Park for breath-taking landscape views of forests, cliffs and canyons.

As one of the most extensive regions of New South Wales, Country NSW is home to numerous wine-growing regions and our next vineyards can be found in four of the most famous of these, Cowra, Mudgee, Orange and Hilltops. The Orange region, which, due to the cool climate, is renowned for producing amazing white wines. If you are a fan of reds, Mudgee is the place for you. With its mild climate allowing the grapes to ripen slowly, the region produces some of the country's finest full-bodied red wines.

We couldn't think of a better way to end the trip than by visiting the Snowy Mountains region, the coldest climate vineyard in Australia. Enjoy a glass of wine while overlooking the spectacular mountains, rivers and lakes in the surrounding area.

Then either drive back to Sydney, or to Canberra for your flight to Sydney.

Take advantage of our extensive Australian domestic network to see more of New South Wales and Australia. We fly to over 60 destinations across the country, including 12 in New South Wales.
