Home to 15 bird and 52 plant species found nowhere else on Earth, Kangaroo Island is a pristine wilderness. Yet over time agriculture on the island has led to areas of land degradation. So it’s perfectly fitting that Kangaroo Island is our first carbon neutral destination.
All direct flights to and from Kangaroo Island are being carbon offset through South Australia’s first accredited carbon offset project to restore native forests by planting local species on degraded farmland. This activity will reduce the risk of soil erosion and reintroduce important habitat for native wildlife including the glossy black cockatoo.
