Where to go

Greater Miami and its beaches are a paradise of interconnected oceanfront cities, urban hubs, charming villages and tropical parks. With lots to offer explore Miami’s diverse neighbourhoods and see for yourself.

Miami Beach

It’s all about the beach in Miami. Most travellers will find themselves at Miami Beach, which is actually its own municipality and organised with a grid system with districts that run north to south; Sunny Isles, Bal Harbour, Surfside, North Beach, Mid Beach, and South Beach with the art deco district.

Visit South Beach for unrivalled people watching opportunities and its iconic nightlife. To the north, glitzy Bal Harbor is a getaway for the rich and famous, while surfers like the breaks off Haulover Beach. If you want to get away from it all, try 85th Street Beach or Virginia Key on Key Biscayne.

Design District and Wynwood

North of Downtown, this newly modish neighbourhood has developed a great vibe as artists seek refuge from expensive South Beach. The Design District and Wynwood offers a eclectic collection of design showrooms, art galleries, craft workshops and shops, along with cafes and restaurants. And there’s a new bar scene developing, too, with speakeasies serving rum punches and whiskey along with bars that specialise in craft beers.

Downtown

Downtown is mostly a conglomeration of business district, construction zone and ghetto, but the area area around Flagier Street has some interesting features which include the historic district which features dozens of 1920s buildings.

The Biscayne Corridor that runs along Biscayne Boulevard from 14th to 71st is transitioning, with interesting cafes, boutiques and bars sitting side by side with seedy flophouses and strip joints.

Coral Gables, Coconut Grove and Little Havana

Coral Gables

Coral Gables is a planned city dating back to the Florida land boom of the 1920s, featuring Mediterranean style architecture, luxuriant gardens, the University of Miami, and the Venetian Pool.

Coconut Grove

South of Little Havana and Downtown, Coconut Grove runs along Biscayne Bay. Just to the north, you’ll find the waterfront Vizcayne Museum and Gardens.

Little Havana

Cuban exiles settled here in the 1950s and '60s, but these days Little Havana has an overall Latin vibe as Nicaraguans, Guatemalans and Puerto Ricans have moved into the area west of Brickell and Downtown.
