Find great things to do in Australia's capital

Home to Australia's newest city and where many of the country's decisions are made, the ACT is a small state located at the southern edges of NSW, roughly half way between the snow fields and the beach. At its heart you'll find Canberra, the country's only planned city, designed by Walter Burleigh Griffin in the early 1900s to house the Australian government, the associated foreign embassies and other parliamentary necessities. Aside from its political purpose, Canberra is also home to some of the nation's most formidable artworks and cultural institutions including the Australian War Memorial - well worth a visit even if war isn't your thing, the National Gallery of Australia, the National Portrait Gallery and the National Museum of Australia.
