Where to go

Discover Brisbane from the inside out and explore the vibrant urban villages. Each suburb is a hub of activity with its own distinct vibe and unique personality.

Brisbane CBD

Built on a bend of the Brisbane River, Brisbane’s CBD boasts some fine heritage buildings and superb waterfront views.

Cycads, palms and figs make up the lush, tropical City Botanic Gardens on Garden Point while a mix of new small bars and restaurants can be found around Burnett Lane.

There are plenty of good restaurants along the timber board walk overlooking the river at Eagle Street Pier, some run by celebrity chefs.

Fortitude Valley

Fortitude Valley is a contradiction in itself – raw, yet sophisticated. It is where elegance and style meet grungy and offbeat.

Brisbane’s main weekend entertainment area and the location of the Valley Markets, you’ll find pubs, clubs, boutiques and restaurants of all shapes and styles – from the ultra-trendy to the ultra-laidback.

Chinatown Mall is a hub of exotic Chinese supermarkets and restaurants. The Emporium complex channels a European village feel. James St showcases Australian fashion labels and Brunswick Street is home to multicultural dining options.

New Farm

This inner-city suburb next to Fortitude Valley has an eclectic mix of boutiques, cafes and bars with the right amount of hum.

Sprawling along the river, with tree-lined streets and a 37 hectare park, lush New Farm is the perfect place to bask in the sunshine. Enjoy a riverside picnic, throw a frisbee with the dog, cycle loops or wander through the rose gardens.

South Bank

Known as Brisbane’s living room, South Bank is where locals go to unwind.

South Bank stretches from the Gallery of Modern Art in the north to the Queensland Maritime Museum in the south and is famous for its mix of entertainment, recreation and leisure activities that are all within walking distance of each other.

The Parklands are known for their lush lawns, impressive ficus trees and gardens filled with bright flowers that are perfect for spending many hours relaxing in the sunshine. Bring your swimwear because you'll also find Streets Beach, Australia's only inner city man made beach.

Little Stanley Street is South Bank's retail and dining strip that overlooks the parklands.

Grey Street is Brisbane’s cultural boulevard, featuring several of Queensland's major cultural institutions. The Queensland Performing Arts Centre, Queensland Art Gallery and Gallery of Modern Art, State Library of Queensland and Queensland Museum and Sciencentre can all be found here.
